Ocean
Ocean — biome.
Obtaining
Natural generation
The ocean is a broad aquatic biome with a seabed, underwater caves, and aquatic vegetation. Its surface sits at the usual sea level; sand and gravel shape shallower edges, while deeper water opens into long travel routes and cave entrances beneath the surface. Coastal terrain can connect it to beaches, stony shores, and rivers.

| Carvers | Cave, extra underground cave, canyon |

| Vegetation | Glow lichen, seagrass, kelp, sugar cane, mushrooms, pumpkins, and firefly bushes |
| Surface pass | Freeze top layer |
Exploration and building
The ocean supplies water, sand, gravel, seagrass, and kelp. A boat makes long crossings efficient, while a conduit or a breathing plan turns the same biome into a dependable source of underwater building materials. The same open routes also make it a useful way to connect distant shorelines.
| Surface resources | Water, sand, gravel, seagrass, kelp |
|---|---|
| Travel | Boats and swimming |
| Exploration risk | Limited air and underwater visibility |
Sounds
The biome has separate background tracks for default, underwater, and creative contexts. Each track uses the same 12,000–24,000 tick delay window.

| Underwater | music.under_water |
| Creative | music.creative |
| Delay | 12,000–24,000 ticks |
Climate and environment
Ocean residents include cod, squid, dolphins, nautiluses, glow squids, and drowned, while bats use the underground ambient group. The open water supports boats and swimming, but visibility and air supply still matter when exploring caves or collecting plants from the seabed.

Data values
The biome uses the `minecraft:ocean` identifier and a temperate aquatic profile. Its public signature is open water over a varied seabed, with vegetation and aquatic mobs spread across the depth range. It belongs to the ocean biome tag family and sits alongside the deep, cold, lukewarm, and warm variants.
