Zombie

Mobs

Zombie — mob.

Spawning

Zombies spawn in the Overworld at light level 0, usually in groups of four, and are common at night. They need a two-block-tall space above a solid surface. Desert zombies exposed to the sky can be replaced by husks, and a small portion of ordinary spawns become zombie villagers or babies. Zombies can also appear from monster spawners, trial spawners, village sieges, and reinforcements on hard difficulty.

Behavior

Zombies target players and villagers, attack turtle eggs, and can path through villages. Some spawn with a shovel, sword, spear, or armor; equipment may be enchanted. Zombies burn in daylight unless protected by shade, water, or a helmet. A zombie submerged long enough converts into a drowned, while a villager infected by one can become a zombie villager.

Drops

The standard entity table rolls 0–2 rotten flesh. A player kill has a 2.5% base chance to roll one rare item from an iron ingot, carrot, or potato pool, with looting increasing the chance by 1 percentage point per level. A baby zombie riding a chicken can also unlock the `music_disc.lava_chicken` drop path.
