Rabbit
Rabbit — mob.
Natural generation
Rabbits spawn above grass, snow, snow blocks, or sand when the light and biome rules allow it. Coat selection follows the environment: desert generation favours the gold variant, snowy biomes use white variants, and other locations can produce brown, salt, or black coats.
| Spawn surface | Grass, snow, snow block, or sand |
|---|---|
| Group | 1 adult and 1–2 babies |
| Desert coat | Gold |
| Snowy coats | White or white-splotched |
Obtaining
Bring rabbits home with carrots or a lead, or use a rabbit spawn egg when testing a build. Keep the route enclosed: a rabbit can slip through gaps that are safe for larger passive mobs.
Drops
Rabbits drop 0–1 rabbit hide and 0–1 food item; the food becomes cooked when the rabbit is burning or the attacker supplies the matching smelting effect. A rabbit's foot has a 10% base chance when killed by a player, rising to 13% with the first Looting level and by three percentage points for each later level.
| Rabbit hide | 0–1, increased by Looting |
|---|---|
| Food | 0–1 rabbit; cooked under the matching condition |
| Rabbit's foot | 10% without Looting, 13% with the first level |
| Looting scaling | +3 percentage points for each level after Looting I |
Breeding
Rabbits can be bred with carrots, golden carrots, or dandelions. All three items belong to the same food tag, so a farm does not need separate breeding rules.

Farming and companionship
Carrots support breeding and a managed pen can supply rabbit food and materials. Separate breeding space from the collection area so wandering adults do not block the only gate.
Behavior
The rabbit is a passive creature with several coat and behaviour variants. It runs away from players who are not holding rabbit food and can jump over fences, so a covered or higher-walled pen is easier to manage. The special Killer Bunny variant is a command-only hostile test and is not part of ordinary spawning.
