Obtaining

Mycelium drops itself only when mined with Silk Touch; every other tool and hand mining returns dirt. A shovel is the fastest tool, and the block naturally covers mushroom fields.

Natural generation

Mycelium forms the surface of mushroom fields and is also part of the terrain palette used by that biome. Endermen can carry the block and drop it when defeated while holding it.

Usage

The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.

Mycelium is a living ground block. It spreads to nearby dirt on random ticks when the light above is high enough; a covering block can make the converted patch revert to dirt. Mushrooms and nether fungi can stay on it in bright areas, and huge mushrooms can grow from it.
