Swamp
Swamp — biome.
Natural resources
Swamp travel provides oak wood, vines, clay, sugar cane, seagrass, mushrooms, lily pads, blue orchids, and firefly bushes. Fossils can generate underground, and a swamp hut is the biome's notable surface structure. The terrain also carries the regular cave and ore feature passes used by the Overworld.
| Wood | Oak |
|---|---|
| Surface plants | Vines, lily pads, blue orchids, and firefly bushes |
| Shore materials | Clay, sand, and gravel |
| Rare structure | Swamp hut |
| Underground feature | Fossils, caves, and ores |
Natural generation
Swamps form in flat lowlands near sea level and often replace rivers in areas with high erosion. Their climate value is 0.8 with 0.9 downfall, so rain is common even though the terrain stays warm. Shallow water, oak trees, vines, lily pads, firefly bushes, and blue orchids make the biome easy to recognize. Swamps do not directly border the ocean, but their waterways can connect to it.
| Temperature | 0.8 |

| Downfall | 0.9 |
| Precipitation | Yes |
| Terrain | Low, flat, and frequently flooded |

Exploration and building
Swamps are useful for slime farms, witch-hut projects, and gathering clay and vegetation. Build paths on raised platforms or walkways because broad sections can sit below sea level and flood around the shore.

Sounds
Swamps use the ambient Overworld biome soundscape with water, frogs, and nighttime hostile-mob sounds layered over it. Their dedicated background music is `minecraft:music.overworld.swamp`.

| Night | Slime, witch, and bogged activity |
Climate and environment
Slimes can spawn above ground at night between Y=50 and Y=70; their rate follows the moon phase, peaking at a full moon and stopping at a new moon. Frogs are the characteristic passive residents. The source spawn table also permits sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, bats, glow squids, witches, and bogged, with zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, endermen, and additional slime entries in the hostile groups.

| Ambient and underground | Bat 10, glow squid 10 |
Data values
The biome identifier is `minecraft:swamp`. Its effects combine the swamp grass-colour modifier with exact source colours for the sky, water, foliage, and dry foliage. The biome also uses the swamp music profile and increased fire burnout.

History
The swamp is one of the original wetland biomes and still keeps its defining oak canopy, shallow water, lily pads, and witch-hut silhouette. The current data-driven definition makes its climate, colours, feature passes, and spawn weights explicit.

Trivia
The water, foliage, and dry-foliage colours are independent fields. This lets a swamp keep its muted water while grass and leaves use separate colour rules, including the dedicated swamp grass modifier.
