Armor Stand
Armor Stand — item.
Obtaining
Armor stands are crafted or found in the outdoor armory of taiga villages. Each armory has two stands: one with an iron helmet and one with an iron chestplate.
Breaking
An armor stand breaks after two quick attacks and drops itself together with any armor or held items. Using a tool costs two durability without making the break faster.
| Normal break | Two quick attacks |
|---|---|
| Tool durability | 2 points |
| Dropped equipment | Armor and held items |
Natural generation
Two armor stands appear in the outdoor armory of each taiga village. The display is pre-equipped with an iron helmet and an iron chestplate.

Usage
A placed armor stand displays armor and held items and supports changing its pose. It has no GUI: players equip it directly. Eight placement orientations are available, and it must have enough free space for the stand's hitbox.
| Placement orientations | 8 |
|---|---|
| Direct equipment | Armor, heads, pumpkins, and elytra |
| Interface | Direct interaction, no GUI |
Sounds
Placing, hitting, falling, and breaking an armor stand each use a dedicated entity sound. Equipment changes are direct interactions with the entity and do not open an inventory screen.
| Place | entity.armor_stand.place |

| Hit | entity.armor_stand.hit |
| Fall | entity.armor_stand.fall |
| Break | entity.armor_stand.break |
Behavior
Armor stands are living entities that obey gravity and can be pushed by pistons, flowing water, fishing rods, knockback, and slime blocks. They wobble when hit, can be broken by arrows or tridents, and may be posed in 13 different ways. Dispensers can place a stand and equip compatible armor or heads.
| Pose count | 13 |
|---|---|
| Gravity | Falls onto non-full blocks |
| Dispenser | Places the stand and equips compatible items |
Data values
The item identifier is `minecraft:armor_stand`. The placed entity uses the same identifier and stores its pose, equipment, rotation, gravity, and optional arms as entity data.

History

Trivia
An armor stand can be made small or marker-sized through entity data. Marker stands have no normal collision and are useful for displays, while a regular stand can be rotated and posed without a GUI.
