Frozen Ocean
Frozen Ocean — biome.
Obtaining
Natural generation
The frozen ocean contains cold waters with icebergs, blue ice, ice, and amethyst geodes. Large frozen shelves break the surface into navigable channels, while packed and blue ice mark the colder edges of the ocean route. The local biome definition also places water and lava lakes, underground ore, and a freeze-top-layer feature in its generation pipeline.
Generation runs in layers: water and lava lakes are placed first, icebergs and geodes follow, then ores, vegetation, and the top-layer freeze pass finish the surface. This ordering explains why a frozen channel can combine open water, exposed blue ice, and frozen shore blocks in one view.

Exploration and resources
The biome supplies ice-family blocks, salmon, and amethyst materials for cold builds and transport routes. Blue ice is especially useful as a fast surface for boats, while the frozen shoreline provides a clear visual boundary for a base. Its cold-ocean identity also makes it a useful target for exploration checklists and map labels.
Climate and environment
Polar bears, salmon, squids, glow squids, drowned, and nautiluses can spawn in this biome. The open water gives long sight lines, but ice and underwater drops make travel slower and create abrupt changes in visibility. The local spawn table also keeps the normal hostile Overworld families, with salmon in the water-ambient group and nautiluses in the water-creature group.

Data values
The biome uses the `minecraft:frozen_ocean` identifier and belongs to the cold Overworld ocean family. Its local effects provide a blue sky tone and deep blue water, while generation is marked as frozen.
