Turtle

Mobs

Turtle — mob.

Obtaining

Turtles spawn on beaches and return to a home beach to lay eggs after breeding. Seagrass brings adults together, and a baby turtle drops a scute when it grows up, so protecting the egg nest is more important than hunting the adults.

Drops

Adult turtles drop seagrass when killed. A lightning damage source adds a bowl, while a baby turtle gives a scute through the separate growth loot table.

Breeding

Seagrass is the turtle food tag and lets two adults breed when neither is carrying an egg. The parent then travels back toward its stored home position and lays one to four eggs on sand.

Usage

Scutes are used for turtle helmets and the Potion of the Turtle Master. Turtles themselves are protected by their eggs and beach memory: moving an adult away from its home shore does not replace the need for a safe nesting area when building a small turtle farm.

Behavior

Turtles prefer water and beaches, return to the shore where they were born, and lay eggs on sand. Eggs hatch only when left in a suitable protected area, and the hatchlings make their way toward water after emerging.
