Creaking

Mobs

Creaking — mob.

Natural spawning

The creaking appears in the Pale Garden at night and is linked to a placed creaking heart. Its pale-wood habitat and dark forest floor make the glowing eyes and heart connection the important visual clues.

Obtaining

Use a creaking spawn egg for a controlled test, or let a placed creaking heart create the encounter in its natural setting. Breaking the linked heart ends the encounter, so identify the block before starting a fight.

Sounds

The creaking has separate ambient, activation, deactivation, attack, death, step, freeze, unfreeze, spawn, sway and twitch events. The heart has its own block sound family for the linked encounter.

Behavior

A heart-bound creaking can resist ordinary damage: the heart records the protector and the mob becomes vulnerable through the heart interaction. It pursues nearby targets, freezes when its movement is disabled, and attacks on a short timer.

Data values

The entity uses the `minecraft:creaking` identifier. Its state tracks whether it can move, whether it is active, whether it is tearing down and the optional home position of its heart.

Encounter lifecycle

The linked heart creates and tracks its protector while it is awake. When the heart loses the required pale-oak structure or is uprooted, the encounter tears down instead of leaving an independent creaking behind.
