Usage

Using an Eye of Ender in the Overworld makes it travel toward the nearest stronghold. It rises while the player is far away, then points down when the target chunk is close; after a short flight it either drops for reuse or shatters. Each throw has a 20% shatter chance, so the eye is valuable even before the portal is found.

The eye can also fill an empty End Portal frame. A complete ring needs up to twelve eyes, while a generated frame has a 10% chance to contain one already. Filling every empty frame activates the portal.

Data values

The item identifier is `minecraft:ender_eye`; the thrown eye is a temporary entity that carries the item it renders. Eyes stack to 64 and are renewable through their two crafting ingredients.

The eye combines a crafted navigation tool with the final activation step for an End Portal, linking the Overworld search for a stronghold to the trip into the End.
