Armadillo Scute — item.

Obtaining

An armadillo scute comes from an armadillo that sheds its shell or is brushed by a player. A living armadillo sheds on a five-to-ten-minute timer, while brushing is an immediate interaction that uses the brush. Neither path is a normal death drop.

Usage

The scute is the repair material for wolf armor and belongs to the `minecraft:repairs_wolf_armor` item tag. It is therefore useful after the armor is crafted, not only as a one-time recipe ingredient.

Crafting ingredient

Six scutes craft one wolf armor in a shaped recipe. The pattern leaves the center of the final row empty, creating the body-shaped outline used by the recipe book.

Trivia

Automatic shedding is disabled while the armadillo cannot drop gift loot. Brushing an adult uses the brush durability cost and triggers a separate interaction sound instead of waiting for the timer.
