Obtaining

Mining the catalyst with Silk Touch preserves the block. Without Silk Touch it does not return itself, but a successful break can award the block's bounded experience drop.

Natural generation

Sculk catalysts are part of the Deep Dark ancient-city loot pool. An ancient-city chest can roll 1–2 catalysts; the entry has weight 2, so the chest result is a real source rather than a guessed structure link.

Usage

The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.

After an entity dies, the catalyst spreads sculk around the event location and uses the eligible experience to decide how much growth appears. The active bloom is not powered by redstone.

Sounds

Placement, breaking, falling, hitting, and walking use the dedicated sculk catalyst sound events. The bloom also has its own activation sound.

Behavior

The block listens for an entity death within an 8-block radius. If the mob's experience has not already been consumed, the catalyst stores that reward in a sculk spreader, blooms, and schedules the pulse to end after 8 game ticks.
