Gold Ore
Gold Ore — block.
Obtaining
Mine gold ore with an iron pickaxe or better. Fortune increases the raw-gold yield, while Silk Touch keeps the ore block intact for a display or for moving it to a safer processing area.

Expose the surrounding stone before collecting a vein. Smelt raw gold into ingots, or use a tool with Fortune when the goal is resource yield rather than the original block.

Natural generation
Gold ore generates underground and is more common in badlands biomes. It can appear in ordinary stone as well as in deeper layers, so a badlands expedition can supplement regular caving with a more focused search. The placement data splits the normal underground distribution into a broad range, a lower range and an extra badlands feature.
| Main range | Y=-64 through Y=32; trapezoid distribution |
|---|---|
| Lower range | Y=-64 through Y=-48; buried feature |
| Badlands extra | Y=32 through Y=256; 50 placement attempts |
| Host rock | Stone or deepslate |
Usage
The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.
The ore is smelted into one gold ingot, while Silk Touch allows the ore block to be used for building. Gold ingots then support storage blocks, powered rails, clocks, powered tools and many utility recipes. Piglins treat gold ore as a protected gold-related block while bartering and exploration are underway.
