Fire
Fire — block.
Obtaining
Place fire with flint and steel or a fire charge. Fire is a non-solid block rather than a normal inventory drop, so breaking it destroys the block instead of producing an item.
Loot tableFireDetailed drops are not published yet.Breaking
Fire is destroyed immediately when broken and has no normal survival drop. The block loot sequence is retained for the generated data contract, but the public item result remains empty.

Natural generation
Fire can appear during terrain generation, near lava, and on blocks that belong to a dimension's infinite-fire tag. Netherrack, magma blocks, soul sand, and soul soil support a flame that does not expire on its own; ordinary fire on other surfaces eventually burns out when there is nothing flammable to sustain it.
| Natural sources | Lava, terrain generation, fire-support blocks |
|---|---|
| Permanent supports | Netherrack, magma block, soul sand, soul soil |
| Block type | Non-solid |
Usage
Fire burns entities that remain inside it, can spread to nearby flammable blocks, and disappears when extinguished by water, rain, a direct hit, or a block placed in its space. A flame placed on soul sand or soul soil becomes soul fire instead, changing its appearance and damage behavior.
| Placement | Flint and steel or fire charge |
|---|---|
| Spread | Can ignite nearby flammable blocks |
| Extinguishing | Water, rain, direct hit, or replacement |
| Soul base | Converts to soul fire |
Sounds
Fire uses its own ambient and extinguishing sound events. Soul fire and campfires have related but separate sound families, which is why their blocks are linked rather than merged into one entry.
Behavior
The fire block stores an age from 0 to 15 and four horizontal connection states. Older flames without a flammable neighbour are removed by block ticks, while the infinite-fire supports keep the flame alive. Lava can ignite eligible air spaces beside flammable blocks, so wooden builds need clearance around lava pools and fire sources.
