Beehive
Beehive — block.
Obtaining
Craft a beehive with three wooden planks across the top, three honeycombs across the middle, and three wooden planks across the bottom. A beehive is the crafted counterpart to a naturally generated bee nest, and the recipe accepts every plank in the `#minecraft:planks` tag rather than only oak.

Breaking
A beehive can be broken by hand or with any tool; an axe breaks it faster. It drops itself. A tool without Silk Touch releases stored bees and can anger nearby bees, while Silk Touch keeps the stored bees in the block. Smoke from a campfire can make honey collection safe.

Usage
The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.
Bees enter a beehive after collecting nectar and leave to work again. The honey level ranges from 0 to 5; bees raise it when they return with nectar. At level 5, shears collect honeycombs and a bottle collects honey. The block can store bees, has a front direction, and emits a comparator signal equal to its honey level. Campfire smoke below the hive allows harvesting without the emergency bee release.
| Shape | Full cube |
|---|---|
| Rendering | Isometric preview |
| Honey levels | 0–5 |
| Full hive | Honey level 5 |
| Honeycomb tool | Shears |
| Honey bottle | Bottle |
| Comparator output | 0–5, equal to honey level |
| Smoke | A campfire below prevents anger during harvesting |
Loot
The normal block drop is one beehive. Silk Touch changes the branch so the dropped block keeps the stored bees and the `honey_level` state through the `minecraft:bees` component.
| Default drop | 1 beehive |
|---|---|
| Silk Touch | Copies stored bees and honey level |
| Copied component | minecraft:bees |
| Copied state | honey_level |

Sounds
Beehives have distinct sounds for bees entering, leaving, working, dripping, and shearing.

| Exit | block.beehive.exit |
| Work | block.beehive.work |
| Shear | block.beehive.shear |
| Drip | block.beehive.drip |
Behavior
The block entity stores up to three bees inside the hive, including each bee's time in the hive and whether it has nectar. A bee needs a clear front exit to leave normally. Campfire smoke sedates the hive during harvesting, while nearby fire forces an emergency release.

History
Beehives were introduced as craftable homes for bees. Later updates expanded the available plank types and added clearer honey-level and bee-count information to the block.
