Snowy Taiga
Snowy Taiga — biome.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Snowy taiga is a cold forest biome built from spruce trees, ferns, large ferns, sweet berry bushes, and a frozen surface layer. Its worldgen definition uses temperature -0.5, downfall 0.4, and precipitation, so exposed water can freeze while the canopy still protects parts of small lakes.
The biome commonly borders snowy plains, frozen rivers, snowy beaches, and frozen oceans. Underground generation remains active: caves, amethyst geodes, monster rooms, ore veins, glow lichen, and water or lava springs can all occur below the spruce canopy. The local feature list also includes rare berry patches, pumpkins, mushrooms, sugar cane, and firefly bushes near water.

Exploration and building
Snowy taiga provides spruce wood, snow, berries, mushrooms, pumpkins, sugar cane, and firefly bushes. It is a useful cold-forest building site, but farms and paths should account for the freeze-top-layer feature and the uneven spruce canopy.

| Terrain planning | Exposed water can freeze |
| Signature palette | Spruce, snow, ice and podzol-like forest ground |
Sounds
Snowy taiga uses the standard Overworld biome music pool. Wind, snowfall, mob, and block sounds are more noticeable in open clearings between the spruce trees than in the dense canopy.
Climate and environment
Snowy taiga uses the regular Overworld hostile spawn profile at night and supports a cold passive community. Sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, wolves, rabbits, and foxes share the creature pool; bats use the ambient pool and glow squids use the underground-water pool. Slimes can still appear when the location is a slime chunk.
Water exposed to the cold air freezes into ice, but tree leaves can shelter parts of lakes and farms. This makes the biome readable at a glance: spruce shade, snow cover, and occasional berry bushes form its main visual rhythm.

Data values
The local Java biome record identifies the biome as `minecraft:snowy_taiga` and provides its visual sky and water colors. The colors are part of the biome definition, not a property copied from the surrounding snowy plains.

History
Snowy taiga is the cold spruce-forest member of the taiga family. Its generation keeps the ordinary cave and ore pipeline while adding the freeze-top-layer pass and the snow-covered surface.
Trivia
Snowy taiga is not only a taiga with a white texture. Its temperature drives the freeze-top-layer feature, while its feature list separately places spruce trees, berry patches, mushrooms, pumpkins, and firefly bushes around the terrain.
