Magma Cube

Obtaining

Magma cubes spawn as monsters in basalt deltas and can also appear in the Nether Wastes. Basalt deltas use a larger group range and higher spawn weight than the Nether Wastes, which makes that biome the more reliable hunting ground.

Drops

Magma cream is available when a size-two-or-larger cube is not defeated by a frog. A frog kill instead produces an ochre, verdant, or pearlescent froglight according to the frog variant; looting can increase the magma-cream roll.

Behavior

A magma cube splits into smaller cubes when a large body is defeated and is immune to fall damage. It is a lava-native hostile mob, while frogs create a separate froglight outcome from its entity loot table; that interaction is why the drop section distinguishes size and damage source.
