Allay

Obtaining

Allays are found in cages at pillager outposts and in jail cells in woodland mansions. An outpost cage is a dedicated structure feature; a mansion group creates one to three allays. Once released, a lead or the player's held item can help move one to a permanent home.

Drops

An allay has no entity loot table. If it is holding an item, the held item can drop when the allay dies unless an enchantment prevents equipment drops; the held stack is otherwise a player-assigned delivery filter.

Duplication

An allay duplicates when it is dancing near a jukebox and receives an amethyst shard. The duplicate interaction has a short cooldown, so the shard is an activation item rather than a normal breeding food.

Sounds

The sound set changes the ambient event depending on whether the allay holds an item. Giving, taking, throwing, hurting, and dying use separate events.

Behavior

An allay can hold one item, search nearby for dropped copies of that item, and return matching stacks to its owner. It flies instead of walking, heals one health point every ten ticks, ignores fall damage, and treats its liked player as an ally. A note block can become its delivery point, while a jukebox makes the allay dance and opens its duplication interaction.

Data values

The mob uses the `minecraft:allay` identifier, belongs to the creature category, listens to the `note_block_play` game event, and stores a single main-hand item. Its one-slot inventory is the state that connects item matching, delivery, and duplication.
