Blaze Rod
Blaze Rod — item.
Obtaining
Blaze rods come from the blaze entity loot table. A player kill rolls 0–1 rod, and Looting increases the upper bound; the item is therefore a combat drop rather than a crafting-only material.
| Entity source | Blaze |
|---|---|
| Normal drop | 0–1 blaze rods |
| Condition | Killed by a player |
| Looting | Increases the upper bound |
Drops
The blaze loot table has one rod pool guarded by `killed_by_player`. Fire, fall, and other environmental deaths do not use that player-kill pool.

Usage
Blaze rods can be burned as furnace fuel and are the first material link in the brewing progression. The rod itself stacks to 64; blaze powder is the separate brewing fuel item.
| Furnace fuel | 12 items per rod |
|---|---|
| Brewing progression | Rod → blaze powder → brewing stand |
| Stack size | 64 |
| Entity source | Blaze |
| Attack damage | 6 |
| Movement speed | 0.23 |
| Follow range | 48 blocks |
| Water sensitive | Yes |
| Fireball burst | Three fireballs after a 60-tick charge, then a 100-tick reset |
Crafting ingredient
A blaze rod turns into two blaze powder, supplies the blaze-rod ingredient for a brewing stand, and combines with popped chorus fruit to craft four end rods.
| Powder recipe | 1 rod → 2 blaze powder |
|---|---|
| Brewing stand | 1 rod + 3 stone materials |
| End rod recipe | 1 rod + 1 popped chorus fruit → 4 end rods |
Combat behavior
The blaze floats and uses a charged ranged attack. Its attack goal starts with a 60-tick charge, launches three small fireballs at six-tick intervals, then waits 100 ticks before the next burst. Water is a vulnerability rather than a safe habitat.
| Ranged projectile | Small fireball |
|---|---|
| Charge interval | 60 ticks |
| Burst interval | 6 ticks between fireballs |
| Reset interval | 100 ticks |
| Water interaction | Sensitive to water |
Data values
The item uses the `minecraft:blaze_rod` identifier. Its entity source is the blaze loot table, while its recipe outputs are namespaced blaze powder and end rod records.
