Crafting Table

Blocks

Crafting Table — block.

Obtaining

A crafting table can be broken by hand, although an axe is the quickest tool. Its four-plank recipe is one of the first utility recipes a new world makes available.

Usage

The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.

A crafting table opens the 3×3 crafting grid used by most complex recipes. It also exposes the recipe book, can repair compatible items without experience, and works as a small furnace fuel source.

Sounds

The block uses the wooden sound family for placement, breaking and footsteps. Its note-block instrument is bass.

Behavior

Using the table opens a temporary 3×3 crafting menu; the block does not keep a persistent inventory or require a block entity. The output is taken from the menu and the table remains in place, so it is safe to share between players and can be mined without first emptying slots.

Data values

The block uses the stable `minecraft:crafting_table` identifier and drops itself when mined. Its wood properties make it a utility block rather than a container block.

History

The workbench appeared with the original 3×3 crafting interface and was renamed to crafting table early in development. Later updates added recipe-book support and the current unified wood recipe.

Trivia

The top, front and side textures are intentionally different: the top shows the crafting grid, while the sides show workshop tools. The block can therefore be recognised before its interface is opened.

The crafting table page combines the block implementation, shaped recipe, loot table, block state, and item definition. These sources document the interface opening, four-plank recipe, self-drop and wood properties without making the page depend on an internal runtime object.
