Obtaining

Mine blackstone with a pickaxe to obtain one block. Blackstone also occurs in Nether terrain and bastion remnants, and piglins can barter it for a gold ingot. The block loot uses the normal surviving-explosion condition, so a controlled blast can preserve the drop when the block survives.

Natural generation

Blackstone is a dark Nether stone that appears in basalt deltas, around lava seas, underground pockets, and bastion remnants. Basalt deltas expose it beside basalt, while the same material can also form quieter underground patches away from the open terrain.

Crafting and stonecutting

Four blackstone blocks can form a compact building batch, while a stonecutter turns one block into a stair or slab output. Polished and gilded families use their own recipes and remain visually distinct from the rough block.

Usage

The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.

Blackstone is a practical Nether substitute for cobblestone. It supports stone tools, furnaces, brewing stands, and anvils, then branches into polished, gilded, stair, slab, and wall variants for building. Some recipes still require ordinary cobblestone, so the two materials are useful together rather than fully interchangeable. It is not a universal replacement for every cobblestone recipe.

Crafting ingredient

Blackstone is accepted by the stone-tool material and stone-crafting tags. It can replace cobblestone in the furnace, brewing stand, stone tools, and several related recipes, but recipes that explicitly require cobblestone remain separate.
