Bedrock
Bedrock — block.
Obtaining
Breaking
The validated block data has no survival loot entry for bedrock. Treat it as a boundary block: ordinary tools do not provide a normal item drop, while Creative and command workflows can still place it for controlled builds.
| Hardness | -1 |
|---|---|
| Blast resistance | 3600000 |
| Survival drop | No item entry in the validated block loot data |
| Creative use | Placeable technical boundary |
Natural generation
Bedrock is placed by dimension noise settings as a boundary layer rather than an ore vein. In the Overworld the floor rule samples the first five blocks above the bottom; in the Nether the same floor rule is paired with a five-block roof band below the top. The local End noise settings do not use this bedrock surface rule.
| Overworld role | Bottom world boundary |
|---|---|
| Nether role | Floor and roof boundary |
| Overworld floor band | Up to 5 blocks above the bottom |
| Nether roof band | Up to 5 blocks below the top |
Usage
The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.
Bedrock serves as an unbreakable boundary and a technical building material in Creative mode. It is useful for testing height limits, containing technical contraptions, and marking protected areas where a normal building block would be misleading.

Behavior
Bedrock has no collision exception or survival-break path in the block properties. Its registered block properties reject normal spawning on the block and expose no loot table, which keeps the boundary from becoming a harvestable resource.
| Stack size | 64 |

| Solid block | Yes |
| Map color | stone |
| Note block instrument | basedrum |
| State count | 1 |
| Spawn surface | No normal mob spawn |
| Loot table | None |
| Survival mining | No normal break path |
Data values
The block uses the `minecraft:bedrock` identifier and is included in the local dragon-immune, wither-immune, and explosion-blocking tag sets. Those tags describe its role in boss interactions and explain why it remains a stable world boundary.
