Natural generation
Ancient debris generates in small Nether deposits and can also appear in bastion chests. The ore is discarded when exposed to air during generation, so it is usually hidden inside netherrack. Two generation passes use a compact band around Y 8–24 and a much wider band up to Y 119; the average level is close to Y 16.

| Tool requirement | Diamond or netherite pickaxe |

| Air exposure | Discarded during generation |
| Generation attempts | Two Java ore passes |
Usage
The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.
Ancient debris smelts into one netherite scrap in a furnace or blast furnace. Both recipes award 2 experience points and use the block as their only ingredient.

Generated loot
Ancient debris can be found as generated loot in bastion remnant chests. Mining is the dependable source because the block's own loot table preserves the drop when an explosion breaks it.

History
Ancient debris was introduced with the Nether update and became a key step toward netherite equipment. Bastion chests later provided an additional, limited source. In the current snapshot it also participates in the sulfur-cube interaction described by the source data.

Trivia
The block is designed as a dense, pressed metal remnant rather than an exposed ore. Its blast resistance explains why TNT-based mining can clear surrounding netherrack without destroying the debris.
