Grove

Biomes

Grove — biome.

Natural resources

Gather snow, spruce logs, and saplings while moving between the shelves. A protected lower terrace is a better place for a small outpost than an exposed snowy ridge. The biome's mountain edges can also expose frozen springs and emerald-bearing stone.

Natural generation

Grove is a cold mountain biome with temperature -0.2 and downfall 0.8. It usually forms on mountain slopes and can stand alone on a small peak. Its borders are jagged: snowy slopes, frozen peaks, meadows, forests, birch forests, taigas, dark forests, and old-growth taigas may meet the grove depending on terrain and humidity.

The surface has snow blocks and snow layers over dirt, with spruce trees growing from exposed single dirt blocks. Powder snow can replace snow and dirt in strips where trees are absent. Frozen springs and extra emerald ore are common features, and infested stone can occur underground; deep dark and dripstone or lush caves are frequent below the biome. Pillager outposts are the structure associated with the grove. The generation record also adds the `trees_grove` placed feature and a pumpkin patch, while the biome music uses the grove-specific overworld track.

Exploration and building

The biome combines a snowy surface with spruce building materials, making it a useful transition zone for mountain roads, cabins, and marked shelters.

Climate and environment

Groves support wolves, rabbits, and foxes. Wolf groups contain one animal, rabbit groups contain two to three, and fox groups contain two to four. Keep a broad path through the trees when moving animals, because the snow cover hides short drops and uneven ledges.
