Fox
Fox — mob.
Natural spawning
Foxes spawn in taiga, snowy taiga, and old-growth taiga biomes. The snowy variant uses the same behaviour but a pale coat, so the surrounding ground is a useful visual clue when looking for one in a forest.
Obtaining
Find foxes in a taiga, snowy taiga, or old-growth taiga, or use a fox spawn egg for a controlled test. A lead helps move an untrusted fox, while breeding creates a kit that already treats the player as its trusted companion.
Breeding
Sweet berries are used to breed foxes. The two adults produce a kit that trusts the player, so breeding is the dependable way to start a companion that will not immediately flee from nearby movement.
Companion care
Give sweet berries to two adults to start a family, then keep the kit close until it grows. A fenced shelter with a clear exit is easier to manage than a dense pen because foxes jump and pick up loose items.
Sounds
Foxes use the ordinary fox sound family for idle, hurt, and death events. The visual gallery includes sleeping poses because resting is part of their daytime behaviour rather than a separate creature type.
Behavior
The fox is a cautious creature that picks up some loose items, sleeps during the day, and can trust a player after breeding. A trusted fox keeps its distance from strangers but remains near the player that raised it, which makes a small fenced shelter more useful than a crowded pen. Foxes can also carry a held item, so their inventory state matters when collecting or relocating one. They jump over low obstacles and prefer to move through forests rather than stand in an open field. Its goals include avoiding players, wolves, and polar bears, stalking prey, pouncing, seeking dropped items, eating berries, and following a parent.
