Beetroot
Beetroot — item.
Obtaining
Beetroots come from fully grown beetroot crops. Harvesting a mature crop gives one beetroot and one to four seeds; Fortune improves the seed yield but not the beetroot itself. Breaking an immature crop only returns a seed.
| Mature crop drop | 1 beetroot and 1–4 seeds |
|---|---|
| Fortune effect | More seeds, not more beetroots |
| Immature crop | 1 seed |
Natural generation
Beetroot crops generate in village farms and can be replanted from the seeds they drop. The crop has four visible growth stages and advances when it receives random block ticks.
| Growth stages | 4 |

| Replanting | Beetroot seeds |
Breeding
Beetroots attract and breed pigs. Villagers also accept them as a breeding food; a villager needs at least 12 beetroots in its inventory before it can become willing.
| Pig interaction | Attracts and breeds pigs |
|---|---|
| Villager requirement | 12 beetroots |
Usage
Beetroot restores one hunger point and a small amount of saturation when eaten. Six beetroots craft into beetroot soup, which restores the combined value of its ingredients. Villagers can pick beetroots from farms, and the crop is useful for starting a small food supply.
Crafting ingredient
Beetroot is used in beetroot soup and can be turned into red dye. Seeds are the renewable farming input for the crop.
| Soup | 6 beetroots + bowl → beetroot soup |
|---|---|
| Dye | 1 beetroot → 1 red dye |
Food
Beetroot is a compact early-game food: it stacks to 64, is easy to replant, and is more valuable when converted to soup for a larger hunger restoration.
| Hunger restored | 1 |
|---|---|
| Saturation | 1.2 |
| Stack size | 64 |
Composting
Putting a beetroot into a composter has a 65% chance to raise its fill level by one. This makes excess harvest useful even after a farm is stocked.

The crop class fixes four visible ages with age 3 as the mature state. Its loot table gives the mature beetroot and applies the Fortune bonus only to the seed pool; the two shapeless recipes cover soup and red dye.
