Arrow
Arrow — item.
Obtaining
Arrows are crafted from flint, sticks, and feathers, producing four. In Java they can also come from skeleton and pillager drops, fletcher trades, generated loot and a Hero of the Village gift. Arrows shot by players remain collectible in Creative when the shot is eligible for pickup.

Usage
Arrows are fired from bows, crossbows and dispensers. Spectral arrows add a glowing outline, while tipped arrows carry potion effects; a lingering potion can turn eight arrows into tipped arrows. A player can use arrows in the crafting recipes for both variants.
| Bow | Fires a normal arrow |
|---|---|
| Crossbow | Fires a normal, spectral or tipped arrow |
| Dispenser | Creates an arrow entity in front |
| Spectral arrow | Adds the glowing effect |
| Tipped arrow | Carries potion effects |
| Arrow variants | Spectral and tipped forms |
Behavior
An arrow becomes an entity when fired. A fully charged bow or crossbow can produce a critical arrow, and a Flame bow or fire/lava launch can ignite it. Arrows stick in blocks for about one minute and can activate wooden buttons, wooden pressure plates, tripwire and targets while they remain embedded.
| Critical shot | Fully charged bow or crossbow |
|---|---|
| Fire | Flame bow, fire or lava can ignite it |
| In-ground time | About one minute before despawning |
| Redstone | Activates wood switches, tripwire and targets |
| Immunity | Endermen, breeze and held-item allays can evade arrows |
Data values
Java stores the item and projectile under the `minecraft:arrow` identifier. The item is in the arrows tag, while the entity belongs to both arrows and impact_projectiles.

History
Arrows began as a basic projectile and were later formalized as inventory items with bows. The modern system added tipped and spectral variants, crossbow support, critical shots, redstone interactions and the current item/entity tag split.

Trivia
Arrow selection follows inventory order when several arrow types are available. An arrow stuck in a block can remain a useful temporary redstone trigger until it is picked up or despawns.
