Obtaining
The ore yields raw copper; Fortune increases the drop count, while Silk Touch preserves the block. A suitable pickaxe is required to collect the ore, while the enchantment choice decides whether the result is raw material or the original block.

Breaking
Mine copper ore with a stone or better pickaxe. Fortune improves the raw-copper output, while Silk Touch keeps the ore intact for a display or later processing.

Natural generation
Copper ore generates in the Overworld between underground layers, with a separate deepslate variant where the host becomes deepslate. Its distribution is concentrated around Y 47–48 and extends roughly from Y -16 to Y 112. A second generation pass is associated with dripstone caves, where copper veins are larger on average.
The ore can replace stone, andesite, diorite, granite, tuff, or deepslate; when the replacement host is deep stone, the result uses the deepslate copper variant. Rare large veins above Y 0 mix copper ore with granite and occasional blocks of raw copper. Dripstone caves are a useful visual landmark because copper veins and dripstone often share the same underground route.

Usage
The block occupies a standard full volume and is shown with an isometric preview.
Raw copper smelts into ingots used by copper building and technical blocks. The ore itself does not oxidize; oxidation applies to copper blocks and their weathering stages. The ingot family supports decorative blocks and redstone-adjacent utility such as lightning rods.

Smelting ingredient
Smelt copper ore or deepslate copper ore in a furnace to produce a copper ingot. The ore is a source block for the ingot chain, not a decorative copper block by itself.

History
Copper ore generation uses the same broad underground layers for both ordinary and dripstone-cave passes. The large-vein pass is distinguished by granite and raw-copper-block fillers rather than by a separate block identifier.
