Cocoa

Blocks

Cocoa — block.

Obtaining

Harvesting a mature pod produces cocoa beans. The block loot table increases the bean count at age 2 and applies explosion decay; younger pods still provide a smaller harvest.

Breaking

Cocoa has hardness 0.2 and blast resistance 3. It is a small non-occluding plant block, uses the wood sound, and is destroyed when its supporting jungle face is removed.

Natural generation

Cocoa grows on the sides of jungle logs in jungles and passes through three growth stages. Jungle tree decorators place young pods on available log faces, while the block itself survives only when the attached face still has a cocoa-supporting block.

Usage

Cocoa is harvested as cocoa beans and used in food and brown-dye recipes. Bone meal advances the pod by one stage, while random ticks provide a slower growth path.

Crafting ingredient

Cocoa beans are the harvested item rather than a separate block recipe. One bean makes brown dye, and one bean in the cookie recipe is combined with two wheat to produce eight cookies.

Cookie1 cocoa bean + 2 wheat → 8 cookies

Sounds

Cocoa uses the wood block sound family. Growth and harvest change the block state and drops, but do not create a separate block entity.

History

Cocoa remains a jungle crop that turns a tree face into a renewable food and dye source. The current definition keeps its three ages, horizontal facing, support tag, random growth, and bone-meal interaction explicit.

Trivia

The pod is directional: it attaches to a horizontal jungle-log face rather than sitting on top of a block. Removing that support immediately removes the cocoa block as well.
